Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake sentenced Germarcco Trayham, age 31, of Baltimore, Maryland, today to 10 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Acting Special Agent in Charge Marino F. Vidoli of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Baltimore Field Division; and Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld III of the Baltimore City Police Department.

According to Trayham’s plea agreement, on September 15, 2010, Baltimore City Police officers were patrolling in the 700 block of North Hilton Street in Baltimore, when they noticed that the front passenger in a Ford Taurus was not wearing a seatbelt. The officers approached the vehicle and began talking with the driver. The front passenger, who was later identified as Germarcco Trayham, ran from the vehicle, holding a handgun on his right side. After a brief foot chase, with the officers repeatedly ordering Trayham to stop and drop the gun, the officers saw Trayham throw the handgun to the ground at the corner of Ashland Avenue and Rose Street. Trayham was then apprehended and placed under arrest. The officers recovered the.380 caliber pistol that Trayham dropped.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the ATF and Baltimore Police Department for their work in this investigation and thanked Assistant United States Attorneys John W. Sippel and Antonio Reynolds, who prosecuted the case.
