Baltimore Armed Robber Exiled to 252 Months in Prison

Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz sentenced Kevin Alexander Scott, age 30, of Baltimore, Maryland, today to 252 months in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release for two commercial robberies and for using a firearm during a crime of violence. Judge Motz enhanced Scott’s sentence upon finding that he is a career offender based on two previous convictions for drugs and violent crime.

The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Richard A. McFeely of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Chief James W. Johnson of the Baltimore County Police Department; Anne Arundel County Police Chief James Teare, Sr.; Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld III of the Baltimore City Police Department; Baltimore County State’s Attorney Scott Shellenberger; Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Frank R. Weathersbee; and Baltimore City State’s Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein.

According to Scott’s plea agreement, on July 24, 2008, Scott robbed a Wendy’s restaurant in Baltimore County, using a shotgun to force an employee to open the restaurant’s safe and give him money. Scott was wearing a ski mask, which he left on the ground near the store after the robbery. The ski mask was recovered and was found to have Scott’s DNA.

On August 24, 2008, Scott and an accomplice robbed a guest at a hotel in Baltimore County, Maryland. Scott and the other robber entered the victim’s room, pointed a shotgun at him and searched the room for money.

During the late night and early morning on September 19-20, 2008, Scott and accomplices committed an armed home invasion in Baltimore County, believing that one of the residents was a drug dealer. After entering the home, accomplices tied up members of the family with duct tape, put pillow cases over their heads and searched the house for money.

On May 11, 2011, Scott robbed a 7-Eleven convenience store in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, using a shotgun to take money from the store and to force the cashier to cooperate with him.
