Boston - A Leominster woman was convicted today of producing false driver’s licenses.
Vanessa Peguero, 27, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Timothy S. Hillman to conspiracy to produce false identification documents and producing a false identification document.
From approximately February 2010 through June 2012, Peguero conspired to produce and issue Massachusetts driver’s licenses to individuals who presented legitimate Puerto Rican identity documents, in an identity other than their own, to obtain Massachusetts driver’s licenses for the purposes of concealing their true identities .
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 22, 2013. Peguero faces up to 15 years in prison, to be followed by up to three years of supervised release and up to a $250,000 fine.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz; Bruce Foucart, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations in Boston; and Colonel Timothy P. Alben, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police made the announcement today. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eugenia M. Carris of Ortiz’s Public Corruption & Special Prosecutions Unit.
