BOSTON - A Lowell man was convicted late yesterday in federal court of selling heroin at the VA Medical Center in Bedford, Mass.
David DeJesus, 52, pleaded guilty to distribution of heroin, admitting that he sold heroin in 2011 to a cooperating witness at the VA Medical Center’s Bedford campus. The VA Medical Center provides multiple services to veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, including alcohol and drug abuse/addiction rehabilitation services.
U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper scheduled sentencing for Sept. 11, 2012. DeJesus faces up to 20 years in prison, to be followed by at least three years of supervised release and a $1 million fine.

Strachan of Ortiz’s Health Care Fraud Unit.
