United States Attorney’s Office Honors Federal, State & Local Law Enforcement Personnel for Exceptional Service

BOSTON - United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz today recognized 132 federal, state and local law enforcement officials and two bank security staff for exceptional service at the annual Law Enforcement Public Service Awards Ceremony.

ATF Accelerant Detection K-9 “LP” with the Suffolk County, NY, Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services was also honored in memoriam. Award recipients in two cases were also recognized for providing outstanding assistance to victims.

The ceremony held at the United States Courthouse in Boston honored those who performed remarkable investigative work in cases prosecuted in the District of Massachusetts and concluded in 2011. The honorees were nominated by Assistant U.S. Attorneys involved in the prosecution of the cases.

“The focus of today’s ceremony isn’t on the type of case, rather, it is on the investigative work, the challenges that were overcome and the collaborative efforts that were involved during the pursuit of justice,” said U.S. Attorney Ortiz at the event. “All of the recipients serve a vitally important purpose in ensuring that there is justice for victims.”

The cases and agencies recognized today were:

United States v. Benjamin Haskell, et al.
Recipients: Federal Bureau of Investigation; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Springfield Police Department; Massachusetts State Police, Fire and Explosion Investigation Section; Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office; and Suffolk County, NY, Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services
The recipients in this matter also received a Victim Assistance Award.

Recipients: Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation; Insurance Fraud Bureau of Massachusetts; Internal Revenue Service; and Federal Bureau of Investigation

United States v. John Camacho, et al
