BOSTON - A Revere man was sentenced today in federal court for being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Reginald Mouscardy, 34, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Patti B. Saris to 20 years in federal prison to be followed by five years of supervised release. Mouscardy was convicted of being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm after trial on July 2011.
Evidence presented during trial proved that on the morning of Mar.11, 2011, the Everett Police Department received a call of a domestic assault on Ferry Street. Police responded to the scene and were assisted by members of the Malden Police Department. Once at the scene they encountered Reginald Mouscardy. Mouscardy, who appeared nervous, refused to identify himself despite continued requests from the responding police. Mouscardy then pushed a Malden officer and fled the scene. During the pursuit, Mouscardy pulled a loaded .25 caliber Beretta semi-automatic firearm from his coat pocket, and ran into a back yard on Rich Street. He was apprehended and taken into custody as he attempted to scale a chain link fence.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz, Guy Thomas, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Field Division, and Malden Police Chief James J. Holland made the announcement today. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Crowley and Kenneth G. Shine of Ortiz’s Major Crimes Unit.
