WORCESTER MAN SENTENCED ON DRUG CHARGES
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - A Worcester man was sentenced today in federal court for Conspiracy and Possession with intent to Distribute and Distribution of Cocaine.
LAMAR SAMUELS, 34, of Worcester, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Michael A. Ponsor to 10 years imprisonment, to be followed by eight years of supervised release after previously pleading guilty to Conspiracy and Possession with intent to Distribute and Distribution of Cocaine charges.
At the earlier plea hearing on May 9, 2008, the prosecutor told the Court that had the case proceeded to trial the Government’s evidence would have proven that Samuels purchased a kilogram of cocaine from a coconspirator for further distribution.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz and Steven W. Derr, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration - Boston Field Division made the announcement today. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex J. Grant and Michelle Dineen Jerrett of Ortiz’s Springfield Branch Unit.
