RANDY DIXON, 32, a resident of New Orleans, was indicted by a federal Grand Jury today on four counts of distribution and possession with intent to distribute cocaine hydrochloride, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. The four count indictment of DIXON followed an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the New Orleans Police Department in which DIXON was identified as a distributor of cocaine.

According to court records, beginning at a time unknown but prior to March 5, 2012 and continuing until May 3, 2012, DIXON conspired with other persons to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine hydrochloride. As part of the conspiracy, on March 5, 2012 and on March 27, 2012, DIXON distributed a quantity of cocaine. On May 3, 2012, DIXON, who was under surveillance by law enforcement, engaged officers in a high speed car chase during which he threw approximately four and a half ounces of cocaine hydrochloride from his vehicle. During the execution of a search warrant of DIXON’s residence on May 3, 2012, agents and officers found quantities of cocaine hydrochloride and Ecstacy in the residence.

Each count of the indictment carries a maximum term of imprisonment of twenty (20) years, a fine of $1,000,000, and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.

U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

The investigation is being conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the New Orleans Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
