HOUMA MAN SENTENCED IN DRUG CASE
BRHIAN THOMAS, age 31, a resident of Houma, Louisiana, was sentenced today by U. S. District Court Judge Martin Feldman to forty-eight (48) months imprisonment for violations of the Federal Controlled Substances Act involving the possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Feldman imposed six (6) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.
THOMAS previously pled guilty on May 20, 2011 to possession with the intent to distribute a quantity of cocaine (497 grams) and having a prior federal drug felony.
Additionally, THOMAS is scheduled for a supervised release revocation hearing on October 5, 2011 before U. S. District Court Judge Stanwood Duval.
The case was investigated by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
