KENYATTE D. PEA , age 34, a resident of Hammond, Louisiana, pled guilty today before U. S. District Judge Ivan Lemelle for violations of the Federal Controlled Substances Act involving the distribution of crack cocaine, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

PEA distributed over 100 grams of crack cocaine on two occasions in Ponchatoula, Louisiana on December 1, 2010 and January 20, 2011. PEA pled guilty to two counts of distribution more than 28 grams of crack cocaine.

PEA faces up to forty (40) years, and/or a fine of $5,000,000.00, at least three (4) years of supervised release, and a mandatory $100.00 special assessment. In addition, PEA is currently on federal supervised release and faces additional penalties for distribution of crack cocaine. PEA is scheduled to be sentenced on December 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.

The case was investigated by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
