NEW ORLEANS MAN SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR DRUGS AND WEAPONS VIOLATIONS
ANTONIO J. BULLOCK, age 28, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, was sentenced today in federal court by U. S. District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon to thirteen (13) years imprisonment for possession with intent to distribute large amounts of marijuana and for illegally possession of firearms, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Lemmon ordered that BULLOCK be placed on three (3) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.
BULLOCK pled guilty on March 24, 2011. According to the factual basis, BULLOCK was on probation for two separate convictions of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana when, on October 1, 2009, state probation officers conducted a residence check on BULLOCK. Probation officers found 42.525 ounces of marijuana in BULLOCK’s residence as well as 2 firearms - a loaded12 gauge Mossberg shotgun and a loaded .45 Masterpiece Arms pistol. In addition, officers found two digital scales and a large number of plastic bags recognized as items consistent with drug distribution. BULLOCK eventually admitted to probation officers that he had been purchasing approximately 2 pounds or more of marijuana each month and that he was the owner of the firearms that were discovered. As a previously convicted felon, BULLOCK was precluded from owning any firearms.
This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and the New Orleans Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rick Veters.
