TERRYTOWN MAN INDICTED FOR ARSON, EXTORTION AND DRUGS
CEDRIC KELLY, age 20, a resident of Terrytown, Louisiana, was charged in a three count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury for arson of a single family residence in Gretna, Louisiana in order to collect upon an extension of credit; using extortionate means in an attempt to collect upon an extension of credit; and the illegal distribution of 28 grams or more of cocaine base (“crack”), announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
If convicted, KELLY faces the following:
as to Count 1, a maximum term of imprisonment of ten (10) years;
as to Count 2, a maximum term of imprisonment of twenty (20) years;
as to Count 3, a maximum term of imprisonment of forty (40) years.
U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Office and is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Abram McGull, II.
