NORTHSHORE MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO FEDERAL DRUG CHARGES
ROBERT EDWARDS, age 46, a resident of Slidell, Louisiana, pled guilty yesterday before U.S. District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle to a one-count superseding bill of information for conspiracy to distribute more than 280 grams of crack cocaine, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, EDWARDS conspired with others to sell at least 1.5 kilograms of crack cocaine and 10 kilograms of powdered cocaine. He specifically facilitated a sale on or about September 17, 2010 for over 300 grams of crack to an undercover law enforcement officer.
EDWARDS faces a term of imprisonment of not less than ten (10) years and not more than life imprisonment, a fine of $10,000,000.00 and at least five (5) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 14, 2011.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorneys Edward J. Rivera and Kevin Boitmann.
