TERREBONNE PARISH MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO GUN AND DRUG VIOLATIONS
STEVEN HEBERT, JR., age 36, a resident of Schriever, Louisiana, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Sarah Vance to drug trafficking offenses involving cocaine and crack, as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten today.
According to court documents, agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Terrebonne Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at HEBERT’s trailer residence on February 13, 2009. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of more than 500 grams of cocaine, about an ounce of crack, and two firearms. Agents also seized approximately $22,000 found in a pair of red tennis shoes, and approximately $155,000 found hidden inside the interior walls of the residence. According to court documents, HEBERT admitted to agents that the drugs and firearms were his, and that the money was in fact from his drug sales.
HEBERT entered into a plea agreement, which upon acceptance by the Court, would call for a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a fine of over $8 million and at least eight (8) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. Sentencing has been scheduled for September 7, 2011.
This case was investigated jointly by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Terrebonne Narcotics Task Force.
