NEW ORLEANS WOMAN SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS PROBATION FOR THEFT OF MAIL
TAMARA BERNARD, age 37, of New Orleans, Louisiana, was sentenced yesterday by U. S. District Judge Lance M. Africk to two years probation for theft of mail, announced U. S Attorney Jim Letten. During the two-year term the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks a term of imprisonment should she violate any terms of her probation.
According to court documents, BERNARD was an employee at the United Parcel Service (UPS) store located at 201 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana. BERNARD stole a letter which contained cash and other items that was deposited in the collection slot for U. S. mail at the UPS store.
The case was investigated by the United States Postal Service - Office of Inspector General, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Loan “Mimi” Nguyen.
