WISCONSIN MAN INDICTED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES
JACK LABROSSE, 41, of Greenbay, Wisconsin, was indicted yesterday by a federal grand jury in New Orleans for transportation of child pornography, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the indictment, LABROSSE transported images of child pornography from his home in Wisconsin to Hammond, Louisiana. The indictment also alleges that on February 2, 2001, LABROSSE was previously convicted of possession of child pornography, and, therefore faces enhanced penalties if convicted. If convicted, LABROSSE faces a maximum penalty of forty (40) years with a mandatory minimum of fifteen (15) years imprisonment, followed by up to a lifetime term of supervised release, a $250,000.00 fine and can be required to register as a sex offender. LABROSSE has been in custody since his arrest on July 21, 2010.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the Indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
This case is being investigated by the U. S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations. The prosecution of this case is being handled by Project Safe Childhood Coordinator, Assistant U. S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba.
