MARRERO WOMAN SENTENCED FOR ACCESS DEVICE FRAUD AND MAIL FRAUD
GERALYN MOORE, age 32, a resident of Marrero, LA, was sentenced in federal court today before U. S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan to twelve (12) months and one day s imprisonment for three counts of access device fraud and mail fraud , announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition, the defendant was ordered to pay $2,852.82 in restitution and to serve two (2) years of supervised release following imprisonment, during which time she will be under federal supervision and risks additional imprisonment should she violate any terms of the release.
According to court documents, on January 13, 2009, MOORE pled guilty admitting that from April, 2008 through August, 2008, MOORE devised a scheme to obtain goods and services from various businesses by fraudulently using a Discover Card that did not belong to her. In all, MOORE fraudulently charged thirteen purchases totaling approximately $2,852.82 to the Discover Card.
The case was investigated by the United States Secret Service. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Sharan E. Lieberman.
