JARED FOLKS, 28, a resident of Metairie, was sentenced to fifty-one months (51), three (3) years supervised release and ordered to pay $200 special assessment fee by U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute and distribution of quantities of MDMA, also known as Ecstacy, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

FOLKS pled guilty on March 25, 2010 before U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute Ecstacy and one count of distribution of Ecstacy. Each count carries a maximum term of imprisonment of twenty years.

According to court records, beginning at a time unknown but prior to June 24, 2009 and continuing until about July 8, 2009, FOLKS did knowingly and intentionally combine, conspire, confederate and agree with other persons known and unknown to the grand jury to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute quantities of MDMA (“Ecstacy”).

Also, according to the indictment, on or about July 8, 2009, FOLKS did knowingly and intentionally distribute a quantity of MDMA.

FOLKS was charged in an indictment on July 16, 2009.

The investigation is being conducted by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
