RICHARD MOORE, age 46, a resident of Phoenix, Arizona, pled guilty in federal court today before U. S. District Judge Stanwood Duval, Jr., to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, announced United States Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, RICHARD MOORE admitted that on various occasions , he traveled via airplane from Phoenix to New Orleans, Louisiana with methamphetamine on his person or would ship methamphetamine to New Orleans via Federal Express. MOORE further admitted that on March 22, 2010, MOORE shipped a package containing methamphetamine via Federal Express from Phoenix to New Orleans. Special Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration intercepted the package on March 23, 2010.

MOORE faces a possible maximum sentence of forty (40) years of imprisonment, a fine of $2 million, and at least four (4) years of supervised release after imprisonment. Sentencing is set for November 10, 2010.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney Brian J. Capitelli.
