NEW ORLEANS MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ROLE IN CONSPIRACY
LARRY ROSS a/k/a “Big Whiskey” and “Big Boy”, age 37, a resident of New Orleans, pled guilty yesterday in federal court before the U. S. District Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin and five kilograms or more of cocaine hydrochloride, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the factual basis, in the summer of 2007, ROSS purchased multiple ounce quantities of heroin from Kevin Cockerham for distribution in the B.W. Cooper Housing Development. Cockerham, who pled guilty on October 8, 2008 in federal court to charges of conspiracy and using a telephone in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, admitted that he received his supply of heroin and cocaine hydrochloride from Houston and distributed a total quantity of 17 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and 2.5 kilograms of heroin. Cockerham is currently serving a twenty-year term of imprisonment. ROSS is the third defendant to plead guilty in this multi-defendant, multi-count indictment charging federal gun and drug violations.
ROSS faces a mandatory minimum of ten (10) years imprisonment and five (5) years supervised release following any term of imprisonment. He scheduled to be sentenced by the on July 28, 2010.
