TEXAS MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE OVER FIVE KILOGRAMS OF COCAINE
ALEJANDRO SOLIZ, age 40, a resident of Robstown, Texas, pled guilty yesterday in federal court before U. S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon to one count of possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine hydrochloride, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the factual basis, on February 6, 2010, Troopers with the Louisiana State Police arrested SOLIZ after the defendant’s tractor trailer was stopped on Interstate 12 in Tangipahoa Parish for a motor carrier safety inspection. After asking SOLIZ a series of questions and obtaining consent to search, the Troopers located approximately 23 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride in the tractor trailer.
SOLIZ faces a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a fine of $4,000,000. and five (5) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. Sentencing has been scheduled for July 8, 2010.
The investigation is being conducted by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
