METAIRIE RESIDENT SENTENCED FOR STEALING MAIL
JULES J. CHATELAIN, age 29, a resident of Metairie, Louisiana, was sentenced in federal court today by U. S. District Judge Ivan L. R. Lemelle to three (3) years probation after pleading guilty to a six-count Bill of Information charging him with theft of mail., announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition, the defendant was ordered to pay a $3,000 fine.
According to court documents, on December 16, 2009, CHATELAIN pled guilty admitting that on January 22, 2009, he stole a total of 27 pieces of mail from six (6) residential mailboxes on Coolidge Street, in Jefferson, Louisiana.
The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Jordan Ginsberg.
