ALIEN PLEADS GUILTY TO ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY
JOSE LUIS SANCHEZ-TINAJERO, age 32, a resident of Mexico, pled guilty in federal court today before U. S. District Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt to a one-count indictment charging him with illegal re-entry by a removed alien, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the factual basis, SANCHEZ-TINAJERO admitted that he is an alien who had previously been deported and on December 22, 2009, he found in the United States in Orleans Parish, Louisiana without the proper consent. The defendant also admitted that he has a prior aggravated felony conviction. SANCHEZ-TINAJERO faces a possible maximum sentence of twenty (20) years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, and three (3) years of supervised release. Sentencing has been scheduled for June 16, 2010 at 9:00 A.M.
The case was investigated by the U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U. S. Attorney Robert Weir.
