LOCAL MAN SENTENCED FOR SOCIAL SECURITY FRAUD

MICHAEL KEITH GREEN, age 38, a resident of Avondale, Louisiana, was sentenced in federal court yesterday by U. S. Judge Lance M. Africk to to fifteen (15) months in prison for Social Security Fraud, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. Additionally, Judge Africk ordered the defendant to pay $529.00 in restitution to the Highway 90 Fuel Mart and to serve three (3) year term of supervised release during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks additional imprisonment should he violate any terms of the release.

According to court documents, GREEN pled guilty on November 19, 2009 admitting that in September, 2009, he altered his Supplemental Security Income (SSI) check made payable to him in the amount of $29.00 to read $529.00.

This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Secret Service and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Irene González.
