SEATTLE MAN SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR NARCOTICS VIOLATION
AZIZI ANSARI, age 34, a resident of Seattle, Washington, was sentenced yesterday by U. S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon to twenty (20) years (240 months) imprisonment for conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 3, 4 Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (Ecstacy) announced U. S Attorney Jim Letten. Judge Fallon also imposed three (3) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment. During the three year term the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.
According to the court record, on November 7, 2007, AZIZI ANSARI entered a guilty plea admitting that he conspired with his brother, Mahir Ansari, to distribute Ecstacy in St. Tammany Parish as well as the state of Washington. ANSARI further admitted to selling Ecstacy to both undercover agents and a confidential source used by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. ANSARI’s co-defendant, Mahir Ansari, was sentenced to 78 months on August 6, 2008. That sentencing was not previously announced because of an ongoing investigation.
After sentencing, ANSARI was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service to begin his term of imprisonment.
This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Agency along with deputies from the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rick Veters.
