ORLEANS PARISH MAN PLEADS GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT TO WEAPONS CHARGE
NICOLAS PIERRE, a/k/a Nicholas Pierre, a/k/a Nikolas Pierre, age 28, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, pled guilty yesterday in federal court to a one count federal felony indictment for illegally possessing a firearm, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten today.
According to the factual basis, PIERRE admitted that on September 29, 2009, Special Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a court authorized state search warrant on a house occupied by PIERRE in the 7400 block of Sussex Place in New Orleans and located a Helwan 9mm semi-automatic loaded with eight 9mm cartridges on an upper shelf in PIERRE’s bedroom closet. PIERRE also admitted that he is precluded from possessing any firearms due to a 2002 felony conviction for Car Jacking in Orleans Parish.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of not more than ten (10) years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, forfeiture of the firearm and a maximum of three (3) years of federal supervision after the completion of his prison sentence. Sentencing has been scheduled for May 26, 2010.
This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rick Veters of the Violent Crime Unit.
