METAIRIE MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DISTRIBUTION OF ECSTACY

LANCE GASSEN, 24, a resident of Metairie, pled guilty today in federal court before U. S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute Ecstacy, two counts of distribution of Ecstacy, and one count of possession with intent to distribute Ecstacy, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to factual basis, GASSEN admitted that beginning prior to June 24, 2009 until July 8, 2009, GASSEN participated in a conspiracy to distribute quantities of MDMA. He also admitted that on June 25, 2009, June 30, 2009, and July 8, 2009, he distributed quantities of MDMA.

The defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of twenty (20) years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and three (3) years supervised release as to each count. Sentencing has been scheduled for May 13, 2010.

The investigation is being conducted by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
