OVERLAND PARK MAN GETS 12+ YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Aaron Wilshusen, 39, Overland Park, Kan., has been sentenced to 151 months in federal prison on a child pornography charge, U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch said today.

Wilshusen pleaded guilty to one count of sending and receiving child pornography over the Internet. In his plea, he admitted investigators found more than 2,000 images of child pornography on his computers after they served a search warrant at his home Jan. 7, 2008. Investigators also found evidence of chat sessions in which Wilshusen said he preferred boys 3 to 13 years old, bragged about his sex acts with children and sent child pornography to another Internet user.

Welch commended the Overland Park Police Department and Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Martin for their work on the case. This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative of the U.S. Department of Justice to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
