JOHNSON COUNTY ATTORNEY CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTING TO ENTICE A MINOR

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Attorney Samuel P. Logan, 45, Kansas City, Mo, has been charged with one count of attempting to entice a minor to have sex and one count of sending and receiving child pornography.

Logan was charged in a criminal complaint filed July 22, 2010, in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Kan. An investigator’s affidavit alleges that in May 2010 Logan used a Web camera to send images of himself masturbating to an undercover investigator posing as a 14-year-old girl. The images Logan sent showed him in an office, with office furniture and framed diplomas and certificates visible behind him. From June 1 through July 22, 2010, Logan continued to engage in conversations of a sexual nature with the undercover officer and to send images of adult pornography and child pornography to the undercover officer.

If convicted, Logan faces a penalty of not less than 10 years and not more than life and a fine up to $250,000 on the enticement charge, and a penalty of not less than five years and not more than 20 years and a fine up to $250,000 on the charge of sending and receiving child pornography. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the FBI Cyber Crimes Task Force in Kansas City, Mo., investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Martin is prosecuting. In all cases, defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The complaint merely contains allegations of criminal conduct.
