Springfield, Ill. – U.S. District Judge Richard Mills yesterday sentenced a Springfield, Illinois man, Lafette Lamar Gordon, to serve 188 months (15 years, 8 months) in federal prison for distribution of ecstasy pills. Gordon, who has two prior felony drug convictions, was sentenced as a career offender. Gordon was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service to begin serving his sentence.

On May 21, Gordon, of the 2600 block of Sherwood, pled guilty to three counts of distribution of a controlled substance, ecstasy pills. Gordon admitted selling quantities of ecstasy pills, (15 pills for $150; 25 pills for $250; and 30 pills for $300) on three occasions at or near his home in August 2009.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Springfield Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory M. Gilmore.
