Urbana, Ill. – A Chicago man who pled guilty to conspiring with others to distribute crack cocaine from Chicago to Champaign-Urbana for redistribution from March 2003 to December 2007 was sentenced today. Olaitan Fowowe, 28, was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Michael P. McCuskey to 262 months (21 years, 10 months) in federal prison followed by 10 years supervised release. When Fowowe was indicted, in January 2008, he was serving a sentence with the Illinois Department of Corrections at a work release facility, Crossroads Adult Transition Center in Chicago.

Two others charged with Fowowe, Sasha Daley, 24, of Chicago, and Kristopher Davis, of South Holland, were previously sentenced to prison terms of 120 months (10 years) and 235 months (19 years, 7 months) respectively. Daley and Davis each entered a plea of guilty on April 21, 2008. Fowowe pled guilty on April 14, 2008.

The charges were the result of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration; Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigations; and the Champaign Police Department. Agencies providing cooperation and assistance in the investigation include the Urbana Police Department; Champaign County Sheriff’s Department; Illinois Attorney General’s Office; Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office; Calumet City Police Department; Lansing Police Department; and the Illinois Department of Corrections.
