FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 20, 2008

Rock Island, Ill. - A federal grand jury today charged Ramar Allen Muskeyvalley, 24, of the 7100 block of Hillnedale Road, Davenport, Iowa, with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute crack cocaine. The indictment alleges Muskeyvalley conspired with at least one other person to possess with intent to distribute five grams or more of crack cocaine on or about July 19, 2008, in Rock Island, Illinois.

The charges are the result of an investigation by the Rock Island Police Department; the East Moline Police Department; and the FBI Quad Cities Gang Task Force in cooperation with the Rock Island County State’s Attorney’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael D. McCoy is prosecuting the case.

If convicted, Muskeyvalley faces a mandatory minimum five years to 40 years in prison for the drug offense. The defendant was arrested on July 19, 2008, and remains in the custody of local law enforcement. The U.S. District Clerk of the Court will schedule a date for Muskeyvalley’s arraignment in federal court in Rock Island.

Members of the public are reminded that an indictment is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
