Urbana, Ill. - A Kankakee, Illinois man, Aurelius M. Williams, 29, was sentenced today to nearly 16 years (191 months) in federal prison for dealing crack cocaine. Chief U.S. District Judge Michael P. McCuskey also ordered Williams to a term of eight years supervised release upon completion of his prison term.

Williams pled guilty in November 2007 to three counts of distribution of crack cocaine. According to the plea agreement, Williams sold crack cocaine on three occasions to a confidential informant in July and August 2007. Williams had prior convictions in 1997 and 1999 for delivery of a controlled substance in Kankakee county.

The case was investigated by the Kankakee Project Safe Neighborhoods Task Force which includes the Kankakee Police Department; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in cooperation with the Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Central District of Illinois’ U.S. Attorney’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eugene L. Miller prosecuted the case.

Williams has remained in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service since his arrest on September 7, 2007.
