YOUTH JUSTICE SUMMIT TO REACH OUT TO TEENS

        ATLANTA, GA - The United States Attorney’s Office is partnering with the Atlanta Police Department and Atlanta Public Schools to present the first-ever “Youth Justice Summit.” The Summit is a one-day interactive program designed to educate and motivate students to avoid crime. News media are advised that much of the Summit is open to coverage. Individual students will be identified as those who can be photographed or interviewed. United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates will welcome the students.

•Tuesday, September 13, 2011, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
•Georgia State University, Dahlberg Hall, 30 Courtland Street, Atlanta, GA 30303
•Washington, Therrell & Grady High Schools will be represented-approximately 225 students
•KhaoGates of “Bridge DaGap,” a motivational speaker, will perform from 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
•The Atlanta Police Department will present a “CSI” style mock crime scene from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
•Georgia State will present a Mock Trial from 12-12:45 p.m. Law students will conduct a mock trial showing the consequences of gun violence
•Georgia State and Atlanta Technical College will give presentations on their academics and degree programs
•Greg Street of V103 will serve as a presenter for the mock trial, and give away prizes to students
