Port St. Lucie Middle School Teacher Sentenced to Life Imprisonment on Charges of Internet Enticement of a Minor and Possession of Child Pornography

Ferrer, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, and Joyce Dawley, Special Agent in Charge, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, announced the sentencing of defendant Alexander Michael Roy, 31, of Port Saint Lucie. At today’s hearing, U.S. District Judge K. Michael Moore sentenced Roy to life in prison on charges of enticement of a minor using the internet and possession of child pornography.
According to evidence presented at trial, on January 13, 2012, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office was engaged in an investigation to locate online predators. In this capacity, undercover detectives posted an advertisement on an e-commerce website that read: “We are staying near Disney if you seek family intimate fun activities. Only serious interests please!” Defendant Roy responded to the ad, stating that he was a teacher in Port St. Lucie. In subsequent communications, including emails, text messages and cellular phone calls, the undercover officer posed as a mother and her 13 year old daughter. During these communications, Roy agreed to travel from his home in Port St. Lucie to Kissimmee to meet the purported mother and have sex with her and her 13 year old daughter. Roy was arrested soon after arriving at the meeting location in Kissimmee, Florida, in possession of condoms and personal lubricant.
In addition, evidence presented at trial included the results of a search warrant that was executed at the defendant’s Port St. Lucie residence. An examination of Roy’s computers revealed numerous images of child pornography, including several home-made videos of the defendant at age 26, having sex with a then-16 year old girl.
Mr. Ferrer commended the investigative efforts of the Sumter County Sheriff's Department, Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Osceola County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for their work on this case. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Carmen Lineberger.
