WILTON MANORS’ RESIDENT CHARGED WITH OPERATING A MARIJUANA GROW HOUSE

Wifredo A. Ferrer, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, Mark R. Trouville, Special Agent in Charge, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Wilton Manors Chief of Police Sharon L. Andersen, announce the indictment of Carlton John Redman, Jr., of Wilton Manors. Redman has been charged with manufacturing and possessing with the intent to distribute marijuana plants and with maintaining a marijuana grow house.

According to court documents, after responding to what was believed to be a burglary in progress, police officers discovered a marijuana grow laboratory. During a complete search of the premises, police discovered approximately 367 live marijuana plants with root systems as well as approximately 70 marijuana plants without root systems. At the house and throughout the garage, agents observed marijuana plants, grow buckets and trays, PVC pipes, soil, and other equipment used to cultivate marijuana.

Mr. Ferrer commended the investigative efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Wilton Manors Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Joanne Fine.

An indictment is merely an allegation, and every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
