For Sexually Abusing 15-Year Old Girl

WASHINGTON - Jose P. Francisco-Valle, 43, of Leesburg, Virginia, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexually abusing a 15-year old girl, U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. announced today.

Francisco-Valle pled guilty in November 2011 in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia to a charge of first-degree child sexual abuse. The Honorable Thomas J. Motley sentenced him on January 13, 2012 to 10 years of incarceration, to be followed by five years of supervised release and 10 years of registration as a sexual offender.

At the plea hearing, Francisco-Valle admitted that in January 2009, he caused the then 15-year-old victim to submit to sexual intercourse in a home in Northeast Washington. At the time of the assault, Francisco-Valle lived in the neighborhood of the victim.

In announcing the sentence, U.S. Attorney Machen expressed his appreciation to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), especially Detective Maria Flores. In addition, he recognized the significant efforts of Deputy U.S. Marshal Floriano Whitwell. U.S. Attorney Machen also commended the work of Legal Assistant Ashley Patterson, Paralegal Joyce Arthur, and Victim Advocate Veronica Vaughan. Lastly, he commended Assistant U.S. Attorney Cassidy Kesler Pinegar, who investigated and prosecuted the case.
