FATHER WHO FAILED TO PAY CHILD
SUPPORT SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 27, 2012

David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that WILLIAM ANTHONY ROBSON, also known as Rick Albrecht, 53, was sentenced on Friday, August 24, by United States District Judge Janet C. Hall in Bridgeport to six months of imprisonment, followed by six months home confinement and one year of supervised release, for failing to pay child support for nearly two decades.  ROBSON also was ordered to pay restitution of more than $147,000.

According to court documents and statements made in court, ROBSON failed to pay a child support obligation that had been ordered by the State of New York in February 1993 at the time of his divorce.  Shortly thereafter, his former spouse moved to Connecticut with her four then minor children.  ROBSON, who has resided in New York, California, Arkansas and Florida, made no voluntary child support payments, and only minimal payments have been made through wage garnishments and seized state income tax refunds.

This case was investigated by agents of the United States Department of Health and Human Services with the assistance of the Trumbull Police Department; the New York City Human Resources Administration, Department of Social Services, Office of Child Support Services; and the State of Connecticut, Department of Social Services, Bureau of Child Support Enforcement.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Deborah R. Slater.
