CIVILIAN DEPENDENT LIVING ON FORT CARSON SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON FOR CONSPIRING WITH OTHERS TO DISTRIBUTE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES
DENVER – Christina Swan Manguno, a/k/a Christina Swan Reichert, was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Judge Marcia S. Krieger to serve 4 months in federal prison, followed by 6 months in a halfway house for conspiracy to distribute controlled substances on Fort Carson. Following her stint in the halfway house, Manguno was ordered to spend 3 years on supervised release. Manguno’s husband, Christopher Manguno, an active duty member living on base, received a sentence of 30 months for drug dealing on post.
On November 3, 2010, Manguno was indicted by a federal grand jury in Denver. On January 27, 2011 the indictment was superseded by the filing of an Information, charging conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. She pled guilty before Judge Krieger on that same day, January 27, 2011. Manguno was sentenced today. Separate from the federal case, Manguno was prosecuted by the Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s Office for illegal drug distribution.
According to the stipulated facts contained in the plea agreement, Manguno illegally sold heroin and hydrocodone. During the investigation conducted by Army CID, investigators obtained search authorization to search the on-base residence of Manguno. Upon entering the residence investigators found drug paraphernalia and a small amount of heroin.
“This case should send a clear and important message that civilians living on our military installations can and will be held accountable for their criminal conduct,” said U.S. Attorney John Walsh. “Thanks to the hard work of Army CID, two drug dealers living on Fort Carson were arrested and incarcerated.”
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kurt Bohn.
