PUEBLO MAN INDICTED FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER

DENVER – Sean Patrick Clark, age 33, of Pueblo, Colorado, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Denver on February 26, 2009, on charges of failing to register as a sex offender, Acting U.S. Attorney David Gaouette and United States Marshal Edward Zahren announced.

According to the indictment, between August 15, 2008 and January 21, 2009, Clark knowingly failed to register as a sex offender, and he failed to update his registration as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, also known as the “Adam Walsh Act.”  In January 1998, Clark was convicted of attempted sexual conduct with a minor and dangerous crime against children in the second degree in Arizona.  In August of 2008 Clark moved from Arizona to Colorado.

If convicted, Clark faces up to 10 years in federal prison, and up to a $250,000 fine.  He also faces life of supervised release after serving his prison sentence.

This case was investigated by the United States Marshal Service.

Clark is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Judith Smith.

These charges are only allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
