WESTERN SLOPE RESIDENT REPORTS TO PRISON THIS WEEK AFTER BEING SENTENCED FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

DENVER – Troy A. Eid, United States Attorney for the District of Colorado, and , Joe Campbell, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Denver Division of the FBI, announced that HARRY OXFORD, age 58, of Palisade, Colorado, reported to Federal Correctional Institute (FCI) Texarkana this week after being sentenced to serve 5 years for possession of child pornography. OXFORD reported to the facility at the direction of the US Bureau of Prisons. The facility is located in northeast Texas.

OXFORD was indicted by a federal grand jury in Denver on May 17, 2005. He pled guilty to possession of child pornography on December 19, 2006. He was sentenced by US District Court Judge Walker D. Miller on May 9, 2007 to serve 5 years in federal prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release.

According to the plea agreement, OXFORD was part of a Yahoo! Membership Group, where he downloaded images of child pornography onto his personal computer. His activity was detected by an FBI Agent in Arizona. After further investigation, the FBI executed a search warrant at OXFORD's house, with the assistance of the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, the Palisade Police Department and the IRS. The search resulted in the seizure of OXFORD's computer.

This case was investigated by the FBI. The defendant was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Phil Brimmer and Habib Nasrullah.
