COLORADO SPRINGS MAN SENTENCED TO SERVE 25 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR PRODUCING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

DENVER - Troy A. Eid, United States Attorney for the District of Colorado, announced that ROGER DEATHERAGE, age 54, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was sentenced by US District Court Judge Robert E. Blackburn to serve 300 months (25 years) in federal prison for the production of child pornography.

DEATHERAGE was indicted by a federal grand jury in Denver on May 2, 2005. He pled guilty to production of child pornography charges on October 6, 2006.

According to the indictment, and subsequent plea agreement, between August 27, 2004 until about November 14, 2004, DEATHERAGE induced a 7 year old he was babysitting to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing photo depictions of the sexual conduct.

“Protecting children from sexual exploitation is one of the highest priorities of the Department of Justice,” said US Attorney Troy Eid. “We will aggressively investigate and prosecute child pornography cases and work tirelessly to safeguard and rescue the innocent victims of these unconscionable crimes.”

This case was investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department with assistance by Special Agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Habib Nasrullah.
