OVER $100,000 AWARDED TO THE FAYETTEVILLE
AND FORT SMITH POLICE DEPARTMENTS

United States Attorney Conner Eldridge and Internal Revenue Service Special Agent in
Charge Christopher Henry presented checks to the Fayetteville and Fort Smith Police Departments
today. The funds represent proceeds from seizures conducted by the Financial Crimes Task Force
for the Western District of Arkansas. Fayetteville received $93,636.47 and Fort Smith received
$7,675.11, for a total of $101,311.58. The funds were allocated based on the work performed by each
department.
United States Attorney Eldridge stated, “It is exciting to be a part of providing funds to these
worthy agencies that work so hard to battle and prevent illegal financial activity and other crime in
our area. We appreciate the hard work of The Financial Crimes Task Force for the Western District
of Arkansas in investigating the financial aspects of a wide variety of crimes and for seizing funds
that are a part of criminal activity.
IRS Special Agent in Charge Christopher Henry stated, “IRS Criminal Investigation is proud
to distribute these funds to the Fayetteville and Fort Smith Police Departments. They represent
proceeds from seizures conducted by the Financial Crimes Task Force for the Western District of
Arkansas. The use of asset forfeiture in our criminal investigations will now help our partner law
enforcement agencies combat crime in the Western and Northwest Arkansas areas.”
Chief of Police Kevin Lindsey, who received the check on behalf of the Fort Smith Police
Department, said, “I would like to thank the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of
Arkansas for its help and support in facilitating this case and subsequent forfeiture. We continue to
experience a lot of cooperation from the IRS and other agencies, which helps make these
investigations go smoother.”
Additionally, Chief of Police Greg Tabor, who received the check on behalf of the
Fayetteville Police Department, said, “I would like to thank the IRS and the U.S. Attorney’s Office
for the work they have done. An asset sharing case of this magnitude is a great benefit to the
Fayetteville Police Department and will be used for much needed equipment and training.”
