May 20, 2003 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan today announced the filing of an Information* charging Carol Calvert with assisting in the preparation of a false 1996 tax return filed on her behalf. The return falsely claimed that consulting income of $300,000 from the now-defunct Allegheny Health, Education and Research Foundation was offset by expenses of $243,279 from an unrelated entity. The information further alleges that Calvert knew and believed that the true expenses were substantially less than the reported amounts.
