The Northern California HIDTA region consists of 10 counties in the San Francisco Bay area--Alameda, Contra Costa, Lake, Marin, Monterey, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Sonoma.

Fresno, Oakland, Sacramento, San Francisco, and San Jose are major cities with populations of 250,000 or more.

Berkeley, Concord, Daly City, Fremont, Hayward, Modesto, Salinas, Santa Clara, Santa Rosa, Stockton, Sunnyvale, and Vallejo are major cities with populations between 100,000-249,999.

Antioch, Redwood City, Richmond, San Leandro, and San Mateo are cities with populations of 75,000-99,999.

Cotati is an "Other place of interest".

San Francisco International is an international airport.

Major seaports are located near San Francisco and Oakland.

The interstates shown are I-5, I-80, I-205, I-280, and I-505.

101 is a U.S. highway.

The state highway shown is 99.

The number of cannabis plants eradicated in 2009 by site was:
10,000 + plants were eradicated from 1 site in Alameda County, 1 site in Santa Clara County, 1 site in Monterey County, and numerous sites in Lake and Sonoma Counties.
1,000 - 9,999 plants were eradicated from 1 site in Monterey County, and numerous sites in Lake, Sonoma, and Santa Clara Counties.
100 - 999 plants were eradicated from 8 sites in Lake County and 1 site in Santa Clara County.
50 - 99 plants were eradicated from 2 sites in Lake County and 1 site in Santa Clara County.

Federal Lands are the Mendocino National Forest, Point Reyes National Seashore, Phillip Burton Wilderness, Ventana Wilderness, Los Padres National Forest
