The Office of Justice Programs, Executive Office for Weed and Seed is requesting a total of $25 million, of which $2 million will be used to enhance data collection and performance assessment capacity at existing Weed and Seed sites so that they may evaluate the effectiveness of their strategies. The request includes $15.5 million to replace the Assets Forfeiture Fund Super Surplus provided in prior years. Because of changes to forfeiture laws, the AFF program is not projected to have sufficient availability in 2002 to fund this program. Finally, $7.5 million is requested to fund an additional 21 Weed and Seed sites in FY 2002, and support the special emphasis programs, such as anti-drug and gun abatement programs. |
